The Binghamton University women’s swimming and diving team kicked off the season at home on Saturday, falling to reigning America East champion Boston University, 183-116.
Sophomore Corrine Zotter highlighted the weekend for Binghamton, sweeping the breaststroke events. Last year’s conference champion in the 100 meter breaststroke, Zotter took first in the event with a time of 1:06.04 and grabbed gold in the 200 meter breaststroke with a 2:10.11 finish. Zotter was also part of the Bearcats’ 200 medley relay that edged out the Terriers by .12 seconds on Saturday with a time of 1:49.00. Senior Melissa Lindahl, sophomore Shannon Lampe and sophomore Caitlin Kelly rounded out the quartet.
Kelly also finished first in the 50 free with a career-best time of 24.03, and took silver in the 100 free.
Senior Olivia Baczek recorded a second-place finish in the 50 free, and sophomore Imani Williams collected two second-place finishes of her own on the one and three-meter boards.
Binghamton is set to face off against University of Massachusetts Amherst this Saturday and Sunday at Binghamton’s Patricia A. Saunders Aquatic Center.
Action is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. on Saturday and resume at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
