Binghamton University men’s soccer standout and senior Ryan Walter has been named to the America East Men’s Soccer All-Academic Team for the second consecutive year.
In order to qualify for the team, student-athletes must post a GPA of at least 3.3 and have completed at minimum one calendar year at their school. On the pitch, athletes do not necessarily have to be starters, but must play an important role on the team and participate in at least 50 percent of its games.
Walter has captained the squad for two consecutive seasons while assuming a consistent starting role.
2011 marks the third time overall that Walter has been named to the team. In the program’s 10-year NCAA Division I tenure, only four others have accomplished such a feat.
