The Binghamton University men’s tennis team is set to ship up to Ithaca on Oct. 18 to play alongside Yale University, United States Military Academy (Army) and host team Cornell University in Cornell’s Invitational tournament.
Head coach Adam Cohen is looking forward to the tournament, saying that it will be an opportunity for the Bearcats to play three quality teams.
“Cornell was the Ivy League champion last year,” Cohen said. “They’ve got some great players.”
Cohen also commented that the men’s tennis team hasn’t competed against Army in a couple of years and is looking forward to the matchup.
Army has looked strong as of late, leaving this past weekend’s Saint Joseph’s University Invitational in Philadelphia with a 10-6 record in singles matches.
Nonetheless, the Bearcats will be prepared. Six players are planning to play this Saturday, Cohen said, with a possibility of seven playing on Sunday.
This weekend’s competition is the first of two invitational tournaments Cornell is scheduled to host this year. Cornell’s second invitational is scheduled for the weekend of Nov. 4. Binghamton has been invited to compete in both of these contests.
