The Binghamton men’s tennis team rolled to its sixth-straight win Wednesday afternoon with a 6-1 victory over Niagara at the Bearcats Sports Complex. BU (14-9) has now won nine of its last 10 matches.
Niagara clinched the doubles point after the Bearcats dropped both matches at the top two positions. From there, however, Binghamton won the first three singles matches in straight sets to go ahead 3-1. BU earned the fourth and clinching point with a three-set victory from No. 3 sophomore Robin Lesage.
Freshman No. 1 Sid Hazarika won his match 6-3, 6-3 to earn his team-high 20th dual win of the spring (20-3). The rookie is 9-1 since taking the top singles position.
Junior No. 5 Ruben Haggai, meanwhile, ousted his opponent in three-sets to extend his winning streak to 12 matches. Haggai (20-9 overall, 15-6 duals) fell in the opening set, only to storm back for a 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 win.
Freshman Alexander Maisin, sophomore Ismael Dinia and sophomore Florian van Kann also notched singles victories for BU.
The Bearcats are set to close out their regular season with a home match against conference-rival Boston University at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
