Three players from the Binghamton women’s lacrosse team received America East All-Conference Honors last week, with senior midfield Katherine Hunsberger highlighting the group with selections to both the America East all-conference first team and All-Academic team. Freshman midfield Allie Rodgers and freshman goalie Erin McNulty earned all-rookie selections.
Hunsberger, who became the first player in program history to earn first-team honors and back-to-back All-Academic honors, led the team this season in goals (35), points (36) and draw controls (76), and finished second in ground balls (20) and caused turnovers (10). Her 76 draw controls ranked second in the conference and among the top-10 in the nation, and snapped her own single-season record of 51 she set last year. She sits atop the all-time program list for draw controls with 152.
Hunsberger maintained a 3.65 GPA as an integrative neuroscience major to earn her second All-Academic team selection. She has also been named to the America East Honor Roll three times.
Rodgers notched the fifth-highest point total on the team with 10 goals and three assists. In 14 games and 10 starts, the freshman recorded eight draw controls, seven ground balls, four caused turnovers and scored more than once in three different games.
McNulty led the Bearcats with 22 ground balls in 10 starts. She recorded 96 saves and caused five turnovers.
