Though women’s soccer senior forward Sarah Furminger hit a cold streak, her torrid start to 2012 helped land her a spot on the All-America East Second Team, the league announced on Wednesday. Furminger netted five goals through the team’s first six games, leading the Bearcats to a 5-1 opening mark. She scored just one goal the rest of the way, but finished with a team-high six scores and 15 points. The Vestal native also nailed four game-winning goals, good for second in the America East conference.
Furminger marks Binghamton’s first all-conference selection in three years.
Midfielder Emma Kurth was also recognized on Wednesday, earning All-Academic team honors. Kurth played every minute of every game this season, according to www.BUBearcats.com, and holds a 3.716 GPA as a junior double-majoring in English and Spanish.
