The America East announced its men’s lacrosse award winners on Wednesday, and junior midfield Michael Antinozzi and freshman defender Chris Bechle earned all-conference second team honors for their respective positions. Senior midfield Shane Warner and junior defender Garrett Augustyn made the all-academic team.
Antinozzi scored 20 goals and distributed five assists, while Bechle, who was also named to the all-rookie team, recorded 13 caused turnovers and 14 groundballs.
But Binghamton’s leading scorer, junior attack Matt Springer, did not receive any accolades despite ranking fourth in the conference with 2.57 goals per game.
Head coach Scott Nelson said the depth of the conference’s attack group likely led to Springer’s exclusion.
“You know, I thought he was going to make something, but the attack group was very strong this year,” Nelson said. “I thought Matt should’ve been in there, but that’s the way it goes.”
