Yosef Yacob and Magnus Richards each pledged a verbal commitment to Binghamton within the past few months, and with the in-season signing period starting on Wednesday, both signed their National Letter of Intent, binding them to Tommy Dempsey and the Bearcats, today.

They will enter as freshman for the 2013-14 season.

Assistant coach Ben Luber congratulated the two on signing via Twitter, and Yacob tweeted a picture with his LOI. Richards does not have a Twitter, but Lynn Worthy of the Press & Sun found a picture of the forward with his LOI.

With Jimmy Gray graduating this spring, Yacob should have an opportunity to contribute immediately in the backcourt with Rayner Moquete. Yacob is a point guard, but he can also play off the ball, according to ESPN’s scouting report.

Richards, on the other hand, is a versatile, athletic four. When he committed on Oct. 1, Marcus Wiggins, his high school coach, said Richards can play several positions. His wingspan is listed at 7-foot-1 and he should fit well into the system Dempsey plans to develop at Binghamton.

With three graduating scholarship players, Dempsey has one more scholarship for the Class of 2013. The in-season signing period concludes on Wednesday, so Bearcat fans should not expect that final scholarship to be filled until later.

The postseason signing period begins in April.
