FRIDAY, SEPT. 28, 5:47 p.m. — An 18-year-old female student reported to Binghamton’s New York State University Police that she had been receiving unwanted text messages from an old boyfriend, Investigator Robert Meddleton said. The two had broken up some time before and the suspect, who was not a University student, had continued to call and text her. The victim was worried that the boyfriend would send out intimate pictures he had of the victim, and the suspect was made clear to stop contacting the victim, or else charges would be pressed.
MONDAY, OCT. 1, 8:59 p.m. — A 20-year-old female student reported to University police that a textbook was stolen from her in Glenn G. Bartle Library, Meddleton said. The victim said that she had left her belongings on the third floor of the library while she went to Jazzman’s Cafe, and when she came back the textbook was missing. The textbook was valued at $95 and there are no suspects or witnesses.
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 3, 4:08 p.m. — A 21-year-old male student had been riding his bike through the woods behind Mountainview College when he lost his wallet, Meddleton said. The victim was then emailed by a person he didn’t know saying that he had the wallet. When the suspect gave the victim the wallet, everything was in it except for $150 it had contained. The suspect said there had been unclaimed debit cards in the wallet that were not the property of the victim. The case was referred to the Office of Student Conduct.
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 3, 8:39 p.m. — Officers on patrol responded to Newing College’s Broome Hall after a complaint of the odor of marijuana coming from the third floor of the building, Meddleton said. The officers located the room the odor was coming from and were allowed entry by the room’s resident, a 19-year-old female student. While they did not find any marijuana in the room, they did find a fake Pennsylvania driver’s license. The officers took the license and destroyed it. No tickets were issued.
