Binghamton University’s sculpture program hosted their eighth annual Invitational Iron Pour Friday, April 26, in the sculpture studios. The event included 10 college and university programs including Alfred, Cornell, Cortland, Keystone, Ramapo, Rochester Institute of Technology, Skidmore, Syracuse and Salem Art Works will be in attendance. Over 100 molds were poured using Binghamton’s two furnaces as well as two others that were brought in by the invited programs. The process involves pouring white-hot iron, raised to temperature of more than 2,700 degrees, into special molds to create sculptures.
