Pipe Dream congratulates Troy Hailey on becoming the first member of the Bearcats to reach the 1,000-point mark in the school’s Division I era.

Coach Walker: That’s a great achievement by Troy, the first 1,000-point scorer as a Division I player in the program and, of course, he really played well today. He made some big shots against the 1-3-1, big free throws, too.

Troy: It feels pretty good. I mean, I’ve been here for a long time, so I was bound to score 1,000 one day. It’ll be broken soon. There are a lot of great players here, so it’ll be broken soon. But for now, I’m just happy to have the record.

Mike Gordon: I’m just happy for Troy. He’s been stuck on 14 for a while. Then he broke it down to five, and I’m just glad that he got his 1,000 points. He’s been here four years now ‘ I’m just glad for him. And definitely to get it at home in a victory like this ‘ very happy for Troy.

Steve Proctor: I’ll be there first to tell you I am proud of Troy. Me and Troy talk about it all the time. I mean, before the season we were brothers coming in here. I’m probably the most proud of Troy out of anybody. He’s been through so much here at this school, and he’s been here for so long and been through so much with this program. It’s good to see him come out with something. (And after seeing Troy take an extra second to stand up from across the room), A thousand points, [now he] thinks he’s a celebrity.

After Proctor finished talking about Troy, he was asked jokingly if he thought Hailey would cut his trademark dreadlocks now that he reached the 1,000-point milestone ‘

NEVER. Never. That’s Troy Hailey, dreadlocks. When you talk about Troy Hailey, you’re talking dreadlocks. There’s nothing else. Troy is the dreadlock guy on the team. You can’t describe him any other way. He cuts his hair, I’m going to cry. He cuts his hair, I’ll be the first one in tears, I’ll tell you that.

Though he didn’t give us any official number, Proctor basically placed the odds of Troy cutting his hair at around a billion to 1 with his answer. We at Pipe Dream place our own odds at 2 to 1. Congrats, Troy.
