As a New York Giants fan, I have had very little to complain about this season. The team is 7-1 and atop the NFC East. They’ve beaten some decent teams and simply blown away some bad ones. And even if the Dallas Cowboys weren’t playing like a bunch of middle schoolers right now, I still feel the Giants would be owning the division. And while I acknowledge that there are in fact three teams that call themselves New York football teams, in reality, there’s really only one. And that team is my beloved G-Men.

I know that combined, the Jets and Bills are 10-6. Respectable, yes. But call me when the Jets find out how to beat Oakland and the Bills figure out how to beat them by more than a point.

The Giants have it all, including punter Jeff Feagles, who might have actually been alive when the football was invented. And yet he’s still one of the best in the game.

And say what you will about the one-man wrecking crew that is Brandon Jacobs, my grandmother could run through the holes created by the Giants’ offensive line. Forget Pro-Bowl selections, just invite the whole New York O-line to Hawaii, it’ll save time.

OK, so Eli Manning might not be the greatest QB in the league, but he’s serviceable, and that’s all the team needs. He ranks near the middle of the pack in most categories, but he never needs to be stellar, though it’s refreshing when he is.

Let’s talk about the defense now. Based on what I saw when they played Dallas on Sunday, opposing quarterbacks should just hire stand-ins when they play the Giants, because the result will be the same if they play or not. Brad Johnson and Brooks Bollinger were on their backs so often yesterday that … well, I’ll avoid the obvious prostitution joke here. Suffice to say, though, the Giants’ defense is scarily good.

The next three weeks will be tougher for the Giants as they play three tough teams, each with 5-3 records. But if the last few weeks are any indication, and if my instincts are correct, Donovan McNabb (Philadelphia), Joe Flacco (Baltimore) and former Giant Kurt Warner (Arizona) are going to be in for very long Sundays.

As one of my very good friends would say, anybody who stands in the way of the Giants this season will be “so donions.”
