There is a reason we still develop elementary school crushes at age 20. How can we resist a cute smile, sweet lunch dates and adorable freckles? When it comes down to it, men have an uncanny knack for buttering us up. While you are sitting at home gushing to your friends over an episode of ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ your dream boy is at home studying diligently, right? Actually, he is probably watching unmentionable sexual acts on his handy laptop, and rating women on a scale ranging from ‘swamp donkey’ and ‘paper-baggable’ to ‘totally do-able.’

Sure, you think men are sweet, but I’ve got news for you, Walter Cronkite ‘ they aren’t. We deserve better. Let me open your eyes and divulge some of my insider information on the true nature of men.

Let us begin with the mob mentality. Your guy is unbelievably sweet and cute to your face, but do you think he says the same things about you in front of his friends? Guys have this misnomer that they are still in kindergarten and feel the need to ‘look cool’ in front of their friends. By ‘cool,’ I mean blatant chauvinism, objectification of women and pure douche-baggery. Running to your friends in the morning to spill every single gross detail about your hookup is not acceptable. Discretion is the name of the game. When you begin to speak about your girlfriend in the manner of a prostitute, you have crossed the line.

Referencing girls in the manner of farm animals is also a red flag that your McDreamy might be a McDouchebag. The epitome of this horrendous male mentality can be summarized in two words: Hog Night. How do I even begin to share what this means? Basically, at the end of the night, guys like to go into bars and find the most unattractive drunk girl available to bring home to the boys. Afterward, this poor ‘hog’ will be talked about and torn to shreds by the guys who think they are above her. I know several groups of men who practice such activities. If that is not the ultimate degradation of females, I don’t know what is.

It does not stop there. Men have an undying belief that they are God’s gift to women. I was once told that women who provide men with ‘additional services’ for a fee are actually degrading the men, because they should receive the VIP treatment for free. Apparently, women were only put on earth to cater to man’s every wish. And how do you repay us when we do treat you to our talents? You thank us by sharing it with the entire list serve.

Be nervous guys, because girls do talk, especially about your manhood. The difference is that we are not glorified by our friends for degrading you and adding you as another notch on our belt. Either way, we come out with a big scarlet ‘A’ on our chest. No matter how many men we have or have not slept with, we are still viewed poorly. You are a cocktease or a slut; there is no in between. It is the double standard that forever hangs over our heads.

How would you want someone treating your mother or sister? It’s time to grow up and have some decency. Do you truly believe that women owe you anything? It is often said that behind every great man is an even greater woman, so how about you men finally step up and show us some respect?
