At the beginning of the season, Jason Stenta was not even a starter, and now he has been named America East Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 11-17.
The award marks the first time in the freshman goalie’s career that he has received conference accolades.
Stenta delivered two shutouts for BU over the past week, registering a total of nine saves in the two contests. Since taking over as the starter five games ago, Stenta has delivered a 1.09 goals against average, and the team has gone 2-1-2.
“Jason has grown tremendously since last year,” head coach Paul Marco said in a press release on Monday. “He has gone from being out of the mix, to being in the mix, to becoming our starting goalkeeper. He has done a great job of stopping shots and has organized the defense so that it does not give up many shots.”
