Beginning tonight, you won’t be able to park in certain parking lots on campus between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. The rules apply until March 15, 2006.

The campus police will slap violators with $25 tickets even when there’s no snow.

“We try to set a time that’s consistent every year,” said Daniel P. Chambers, BU’s deputy police chief in charge of parking, traffic and special events.

Chambers said the lots are restricted between Nov. 15 and March 15 perennially to make sure Physical Facilities is able to plow snow in time for commuters.

“Once it starts snowing,” Chambers said, “it’s too late” to ask people to move their cars. That’s why there’s a standard schedule.

Clip and save this guide to the places where you can park on campus.

Whether you’re a commuter or a resident, you can park overnight ONLY in these lots:

Lot H (Tennis Courts)

Lot I (Power Plant)

Lot M1 (Closer to the Nature Preserve and West Access Road)

Lot N (Smith Hall)

Lot O1 (CIW East)

Lot O2 (Mohawk Hall South)

Lot R (Champlain Hall)

Lot S1-4 (Bingham Hall)

Lot X (Susquehanna apartments)

Lots ZZ-N (Hillside North)

Lots ZZ-S (Hillside South)

People who need to park cars on campus between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. should move their cars out of the restricted lots to avoid being ticketed.
