Three Binghamton University men’s lacrosse players were named to America East All-Conference teams on Tuesday, and three additional Bearcats were named to the AE Academic Team for the 2009 season.
Sophomore defender Derrick Danieu was named to the AE All-Conference First Team for the first time. Danieu started 13 games for the Bearcats and scooped up 21 ground balls this season. He was named to the AE All-Rookie Team in 2008, compiling 12 ground balls in 12 games.
Senior midfielder and team captain Duncan Streeten made the All-Conference Second Team. Streeten has been a scoring threat for the Bearcats, compiling nine goals (a career high) and two assists in 14 games.
Freshman defender Ben Waldron made the All-Rookie Team after recording 42 ground balls as well as tallying a goal and two assists in 13 games.
In addition, senior goalie Larry Kline, senior defender Chris Winter and junior midfielder Steve Carlson were named to the AE Academic Team. It marks Kline’s third consecutive selection to the squad and Carlson’s second.
“I am even more proud of our team for what we have accomplished in the classroom,” said Bearcats head coach Ed Stephenson, according to a Binghamton University press release. “Every single year we set high standards academically and we have been improving each season.”
