The official attendance for Wednesday’s women’s basketball game at the Events Center was 1,718. I don’t know how accurate that number is, though. I counted 1,000 fans in the student section alone.

The men’s team dropped to 0-5 last night after falling at Hofstra 69-55. Hopefully tomorrow’s game against Broome Community College will be the turning point of the season.

On a more successful note, the women’s volleyball team will play Penn State in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament tonight. It should be an interesting matchup. While the second-seeded Nittany Lions are faster, more athletic and considered a national powerhouse, the Bearcats did beat Colgate in September.

And finally, if Appalachian Dining Hall is open until 1 a.m., why would they stop serving the grilled chicken — the only option with less than 40 grams of saturated fat — before midnight? I won’t let Danita get away with spoiling my late night snack any longer.
