Financial Vice President
Richard Marmolejos
Junior political science and sociology double major.
Platform: Marmolejos plans to “be more available than the past FVP,” and to dedicate more time to working with the treasurers of student groups. He also plans to hold treasurer round table meetings to improve communication.
Interests: “I love music, all types, my favorite right now is Arabic.”
Vice President for University Programming
Kevin Ranegan
Junior history and sociology double major.
Platform: “I want people to know that if they vote for me, I’m not a person with a one set agenda, I’m very open to other ideas.” If elected, Ranegan plans to work with student groups to bring smaller acts to campus and to utilize the smaller venues, such as the lecture halls. He would also like to expand the homecoming celebration and diversify the types of acts brought to campus beyond just concerts.
Interests: playing guitar, Jagger dancing (“dancing like Mick Jagger”), playing PS2, sports, “typical guy stuff.”
Garrett Dorfman
Sophomore philosophy, politics and law major.
Platform: If elected, Dorfman plans to expand the cultural educational board, initiate inter-community programming and plan a winter event, “we have homecoming in the fall, Spring Fling for the spring but we don’t really have anything in the winter.”
Interests: playing guitar and piano, going to concerts, hanging out with people and drinking at the bar. “I think I’m in like 8 different weekend warrior pics.”
Sandy Dube
Sophomore management major.
Platform: If elected, Dube plans to diversify the type of acts brought to campus, including more comedians and lecturers rather than just music. She would also work with student groups and dorm communities to plan events and work to make homecoming more like Spring Fling.
Interests: According to Facebook, Dube’s interests include “dancing around my room for no reason, standing in the rain, being a hopeless romantic and playing cards because it’s the cool thing to do.”
Vice President for Multicultural Affairs
J. Nathaniel Reed
Sophomore English and philosophy double major.
Platform: “I want to do more on the grassroots level of being deeply involved with my groups, intimately involved with them to the point of knowing names and knowing the needs of each and every organization.” If elected, Reed also plans on utilizing more of the available media outlets, working for increases in the Intercultural Awareness Committee and VPMA budgets and establishing a greater integration of the VPMA’s office with events of campus.
Interests: Long walks on the beach, woodcarving and jazz musicianship.
David Bass
Sophomore
Platform: If elected, Bass would work to bring groups together and reach out to every student, not just those traditionally considered multicultural. He would also work toward more cross-cultural programming, working with dorm communities, and starting a “diversity line” to address what he believes to be a problem of B-Line censorship.
Interests: Bass is a member of both the Rainbow Pride Union and Students Against Genocide Everywhere.
