LOCK: New York Giants (-8.5) over KANSAS CITY

The Chiefs haven’t won a football game since Nov. 30 of last year — including the preseason. The Giants are on a roll this season, and they had no trouble handling the struggling Bucs last week. This game should be closer, but the Giants won’t lose. Then again, the Giants started 11-1 last year, and does anyone remember who that one loss was against? The Browns, in Week 6. I sure hope for the sake of my picks record thus far that the Giants don’t blow this one.

CHICAGO (-10.0) over Detroit

I was glad to see the Lions finally get a win last week, but they beat a very poorly coached Redskins team that only beat the lowly Rams 9-7 the week before. My favorite part of the Lions is running back Kevin Smith, who is questionable this week, and even against the Bears defense, he would have trouble running the ball. Chicago’s offense will be too much for Detroit’s defense.

SAN FRANCISCO (-9.5) over St. Louis

The 49ers played a great game against the Vikings last week and are one of the strongest 2-1 teams in the league. The Rams are a train wreck; they’re better off with Kyle Boller under center than with Mark Bulger, and that’s saying a lot.

INDIANAPOLIS (-10.5) over Seattle

Big spread, but it should be a big win for Indy. Seattle isn’t playing badly, but when the Colts offense is on fire, it’s difficult to stop Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne. Seattle will likely be without starting QB Matt Hasselbeck, and the offense will have trouble getting points in Indy.
