TUESDAY, Oct. 2, 10 a.m. ‘ An anonymous person told police that a 20-year-old male student had been ‘jerking off’ during class in the Student Wing, said Investigator Matt Rossie of Binghamton’s New York State University Police.
According to the witness, the student was masturbating ‘on and off in 15-minute intervals’ during the extent of the class, which was about one hour, Rossie said.
‘His genitals were not exposed,’ Rossie said. ‘He was doing it over his shorts.’
Police took no further action, but the witness believed the report should be filed with police ‘just in case any further incidents occur,’ Rossie said.
FRIDAY, Oct. 12, 10 p.m. ‘ An argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend in Dickinson Community’s Johnson Hall ended in the boyfriend pushing another male student after the student tried to stop the dispute. The student had tried calming the boyfriend down and told him to contact the girlfriend later. But the boyfriend pushed the student against the wall three different times, Rossie said. The couple are also 19-year-old students. The student filed a harassment report and the incident was referred to Judicial Affairs.
MONDAY, Oct. 15, 6 p.m. ‘ A 23-year-old female University employee told police that two teenagers stole her purse from her house in the City of Binghamton, Rossie said. The employee had let them into her home after the teenagers had asked for a glass of water. University police could not say what was in the purse, except for a University ID. The incident was also filed with Binghamton Police Department. Police made no arrests.
WEDNESDAY, Oct. 17, 10:12 a.m. ‘ Maintenance staff found vandalism in Newing College’s Broome Hall. An exit sign had been ripped down near the service door, Rossie said. A ceiling light had been smashed on the ground floor of a stairwell and the cover of another ceiling light was broken at the top of the stairwell. A wall light fixture was ‘disassembled so it remains non-working’ in the stairwell, Rossie said, and the name tags for four doors were burned on the second floor. The cost of damages was $106. Police have no suspects.
FRIDAY, Oct. 19, 2:07 a.m. ‘ A cleaner reported to police that a toilet had been ripped off the wall and smashed on the floor of the women’s second floor bathroom in Library South, Rossie said. The cost of damages was $200. Police have no suspects.
