Don’t leave Fine Arts Without It
NOV. 7, 4:26 a.m. – A faculty member who left her bag in a Fine Arts classroom called the police to report the loss.
“Realizing she left it there, she returned and found the bag was missing,” Chier said.
The bag contained credit cards, a driver’s license and keys to three campus rooms.
The officer asked whether the professor found the bag; the person said she was the professor.
Later that day, the bag was turned in and the teacher was reunited with her bag.

NOV. 7, 2:20 p.m. – One of the 45 people who were recipients of a cryptic electronic mail letter became concerned for the sender’s safety because of the words.
“They read it as a possible cry for help,” Chier said.
The campus police spoke with the sender, a 20-year-old undergraduate who lives locally in Binghamton. The person dismissed concerns that she would hurt herself. The BU police determined that the person was just sending out messages.

NOV. 9, 12:30 a.m. – An student in Newing’s Endicott Hall was issued a court appearance ticket on marijuana charges after the campus police say they caught the 19-year-old and two of his friends smoking weed in their dorm room.
The incident began with a call by the dorm staff to the police. The officers were allowed in the room, Chier said.
“During the course of interviews with the people, they found a small quantity of marijuana,” he said.
The officers also confiscated “one of those glass pipes,” Chier said.
The students denied that they had more drugs, but on a small table in the center of the room, in a black Styrofoam box, they found a small box of cigars near a small amount of marijuana.
The police report called the students uncooperative.
“A check of the area showed that they had not smoked all of the marijuana,” Chier said, as the students claimed. “They started finding more.”
Police charged the 19-year-old student who said the contraband was his with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
All three were referred to the campus judicial system.
