FRIDAY, Dec. 5, 5:24 a.m. — A 20-year-old male and a 20-year-old female called Binghamton’s New York State University Police when they heard disturbing noises near the Pond Trail in the Nature Preserve, according to Investigator Dennis P. Bush of University police. The male student told the officers that he had heard two “distinct bangs that sounded like an ax.” He then said he heard a yell like someone in pain, like “their arm was being cut off.” The female student told officers that she had heard three bangs and that the yell had sounded like “someone had been surprised, but not in pain.” The officers searched the area around Pond Trail but didn’t find anyone.
FRIDAY, Dec. 5, 5 p.m. — Officers on patrol observed a silver-colored vehicle speeding, headed south on East Access Road. The car made a U-turn by the connector road, and as it went on it did not stop at a stop sign. The officers pulled the car over on West Access Road and the operator was found in possession of an altered New York State learner’s permit and a forged New Jersey ID card. The operator was issued uniform traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Vestal Town Court on Dec. 18, at 5:30 p.m.
FRIDAY, Dec. 5, 11 p.m. — A resident assistant of College-in-the-Woods’ Seneca Hall called University police after he observed three white males walking up the trail from CIW to Mountainview College, one of them carrying a fire extinguisher. The RA believed them to have been residents of Seneca.
The officers noticed that three cars in Lot Y3 had dry chemical from a fire extinguisher on them. University employees later discovered an empty fire extinguisher in Lot Y5, surrounded by four cars with crude sketches drawn in dry chemical on them.
SATURDAY, Dec. 6, 9 p.m. — Officers responded to a complaint of marijuana in CIW’s Onondaga Hall. The resident assistant who called had been doing rounds on the fourth floor when she smelled the odor of marijuana coming out of one of the rooms. The officers had the RA knock on the door and they were allowed entrance. Two of the residents admitted to having been smoking marijuana in the room and were issued tickets to appear in court on Dec. 18, at 5:30 p.m. The students gave the officers the marijuana that they had, about 13 grams in total, along with a glass pipe with residue and a grinder.
