MONDAY, OCT. 4, 10:41 p.m. ‘ Officers on patrol responded to a drug complaint in Newing College’s Chenango Hall after a resident assistant reported a marijuana odor in a hallway, said Investigator Dennis P. Bush of Binghamton’s New York State University Police. Officers arrived, confirmed that there was indeed a marijuana odor and identified the door it was emanating from. Although they knocked repeatedly, there was no response. A witness reported seeing the suspect, a 19-year-old male student, exit his dorm, lock the door and exit down the stairs in a hurry. The student has been referred to the Office of Student Conduct.
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 6, 9:35 a.m. ‘ A female student made a report that her car had been broken into and a MacBook worth $1,500 had been stolen from a handbag that lay on the passenger’s seat, Bush said. When she returned from class she found that although the handbag remained, the MacBook was gone. She stated that she drives an old car, and that the locking mechanism and alarm does not always work. There were no witnesses, and police have no suspects.
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 6, 2:30 p.m. ‘ Faculty at Corwin Park reported several missing pieces of equipment from a block sign that was under construction nearby, Bush said. One faculty member reported missing a 4-by-4 block sign made of aluminum, as well as two mounting posts. Another reported having lost six cross members, each valued at $250. Police have no suspects or witnesses.
