A new online service is bridging the gap between the Student Association and the students of BU.
A direct link on the SA’s website (sa.binghamton.edu), entitled “Yo EVP, Can You Help Me?” allows students to send a message or question to Executive Vice president (EVP) Dave Belsky.
“Well, basically, we found a lot of students outside of the SA world didn’t really have an effective way to communicate what they felt were issues around campus. So I thought ‘let me take advantage of the Internet,’” Belsky said.
As EVP, Belsky directly oversees the activities of all SA-chartered student groups at BU. But he pointed out that both he and the SA serve all of BU’s students, and that the new service can be utilized by anyone.
“It’s so wide-ranged it’s unbelievable,” Belsky said. “Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, even professors have used it. I’ve been getting a lot of e-mails from people with all sorts of questions.”
Belsky hopes that the new direct communication link will remain as a permanent feature of the SA website, and suggested its possible expansion to every executive board member.
But perhaps the most pressing question on everyone’s mind is how he came up with that catchy title.
“It’s because it rhymes, I’m not going to lie,” Belsky said.
