This coming Wednesday, May 3, there’s gonna be a frickin’ rock show. Minus The Bear, The Detachment Kit and Russian Circles will all be playing in the Mandela Room at 8 p.m. Why should you go? Well, for one, it’s cheap ($10 a ticket).

Secondly, the show should be thoroughly entertaining, if you want a good, energetic rock show. Minus The Bear’s sound is melodic, with influences of jazz and emo showing. The music is complicated and catchy, and when played live, their songs are sure to rock a few faces. They are reminiscent of Hey Mercedes, but stand out on their own.

The Detachment Kit is just a good, old-fashioned rock band. They’re fast, they scream, but they can tone it down when it’s needed. Their portion of the show should be very interesting.

Russian Circles is a metal band, but they’re very talented in the way they make complicated instrumental songs. “Epic” is a word that has been used to describe their songwriting.

With an eclectic group of artists like this, the show is sure to have something for everyone, unless you’re looking for traditional Pakistani music. Then you’ll probably be disappointed, but what the hell are you doing there in the first place? Anyway, get your tickets at the Student Association Box Office in the Old University Union, then go and get kicked in the head by a crowd surfer. It’s awesome.
