MEN’S AWARDS

* Player of the Year:

Josh Patterson — The 184-pound junior became Binghamton University’s first All-American wrestler, finishing seventh at the NCAA Championships. He finished with a 46-6 season record, including a school record of 22 pins.

D.J. Rivera — Rivera led the men’s basketball team to its first-ever NCAA tournament berth, scoring 20 points to lead the America East Conference while grabbing 6.5 rebounds per game in the process.

Joanel Lopez — This track and field athlete finished his brilliant career by placing second in the shot put at the AE championships, good enough to qualify for the IC4A Championships.

* Rookie of the Year:

Gilbert Wong — Wong achieved a 32-7 overall record and was named Most Outstanding Player at the AE men’s tennis championship, helping the Bearcats clinch a spot in the NCAA tournament.

Dave Ciocchi — Ciocchi compiled 35 hits, 21 runs and 25 RBIs in 95 at-bats to lead the Binghamton baseball team to a 23-15 (10-2 AE) record.

Ben Waldron — Second on the men’s lacrosse team, the defender scooped up 41 ground balls for the season to help the Bearcats clinch an AE tournament spot. He was also named to the AE All-Rookie team.

* Coach of the Year:

Kevin Broadus — Broadus led the Binghamton men’s basketball team to its first-ever NCAA tournament berth after achieving a 23-9 (7-1) overall record.

Pat Popolizio — Popolizio not only helped guide Patterson to becoming the school’s first All-American, but also improved the wrestling team’s record from 12-6-3 to 14-6.

Adam Cohen — Cohen led the men’s tennis team to a 14-7 record, clinching the AE tournament for the fifth time in seven seasons and earning the Bearcats a NCAA tournament spot.
