As the television season winds down, you may find yourself wondering about the fates of your favorite shows. It’s safe to say if you love the ratings giants like ‘CSI’ or ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ that you don’t have to worry about their future, but if you’re a fan of ‘Scrubs’ or ‘Gilmore Girls,’ it might be time to get out your pen and paper and start writing the networks.

Below is a rundown of SOME of the shows that have already been canceled or renewed, are on the bubble of cancellation/renewal, and some pilots that may grace your television sets next fall.

Gone:

‘7th Heaven’ ‘ The CW. After 11 years, the show is long past its prime ‘ if there ever was one.

‘Reba’ ‘ The CW. Is anybody surprised?

‘Wedding Bells’ ‘ FOX. Only four episodes of this series aired and apparently that was enough for FOX.

‘The OC’ ‘ FOX. The magic of Newport Beach seems to have worn off.

‘The Black Donnellys’ ‘ NBC. People weren’t interested in the show from the producers of the hit film, ‘Crash.’

‘Passions’ ‘ NBC.

‘Sopranos’ ‘ HBO.

In the safe zone:

‘Las Vegas’ ‘ NBC.

’30 Rock’ ‘ NBC.

‘Heroes’ ‘ NBC.

‘The Office’ ‘ NBC.

‘My Name is Earl’ ‘ NBC.

‘Law and Order: SVU’ ‘ NBC.

‘ER’ ‘ NBC.

‘Lost’ ‘ ABC.

‘Men in Trees’ ‘ ABC.

‘Ugly Betty’ ‘ ABC.

‘Brothers & Sisters’ ‘ ABC.

‘Desperate Housewives’ ‘ ABC.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ ‘ ABC.

‘House’ ‘ FOX.

‘Bones’ ‘ FOX.

‘Prison Break’ ‘ FOX.

‘The Hills’ ‘ MTV.

‘Nip/Tuck’ ‘ FX.

‘The Shield’ ‘ FX.

Staying or going?

‘The Knights of Prosperity’ ‘ ABC. Receiving critical acclaim doesn’t guarantee ratings.

‘Scrubs’ ‘ NBC. Zach Braff just signed a new deal with the production company guaranteeing a big payday if NBC picks up the series.

‘Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip’ ‘ NBC.

‘Medium’ ‘ NBC.

‘Gilmore Girls’ ‘ The CW. Fans and critics haven’t been singing the praises of the show this season. Add expired contracts and this could be it for the girls.

‘Veronica Mars’ ‘ The CW. My love for this show knows no bounds. ‘Veronica’ has failed to attract a huge audience, something the fledgling CW needs. Veronica may be solving her last mystery this May.

New Pilots:

‘Untitled Grey’s Anatomy Spin-Off’ ‘ ABC. ABC is saying the special episode in May starring everyone’s favorite saucy red-headed mistress, Dr. Addison Montgomery, will serve as the show’s pilot but doesn’t guarantee the show is going to run a full season. But with ‘Grey’s’ still topping the charts, this spin-off looks like a sure thing.

‘Football Wives’ ‘ ABC. This fledgling show has all the key ingredients of ABC success. An all-star cast including Lucy ‘Xena’ Lawless, James Van Der Beek, Gabrielle Union and Ving Rhames? Check. Based on one of America’s favorite sports? Check. Full of high-drama prime time soap action that ABC loves? Check.

‘The Rules for Starting Over’ ‘ FOX. Rashida Jones of ‘The Office’ stars as a divorce lawyer in this FOX comedy about the not-so-fun part of dating after divorces.

With May rapidly approaching, the fates of more shows will be revealed. However, it’s never too early to send a letter or e-mail to the networks showing support for your favorite show.
