‘Poofin’ Around with Snooki’ hit some mini ‘poof bumps’ before it even started. Although some students were extremely excited to have Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi here at Binghamton University, there were some who were not so thrilled. ‘Fist-pump this ‘ $16,000 = your TA’s salary’ was one of the slogans mentioned during a student protest.

Matt Birkhold, a graduate student studying sociology, was one of a few students who participated in the protest outside of the Anderson Center.

‘It’s crazy that the SA has spent over $35,000 in entertainment in one week while students don’t get basic needs,’ Birkhold said.

Some of these students were outside all day protesting the University’s carelessness with funding.

‘It’s not about Snooki. It’s about irresponsible spending,’ said Gabriel Piser, graduate student earning a Ph.D. in Philosophy, Interpretation and Culture (PIC) program.

Once inside, eager students lined up for at least an hour and 30 minutes before the show started, to assure one of 15 coveted spots to dance with Snooki on stage. She gave fist-pumping lessons, showed us that her poof is au naturel (she hates Bumpits) and even judged an ab contest.

No one is quite sure what exactly it is that she does, or what her talent is, but it is guaranteed that she has more talent than accompanied comedian Michael Dean Ester. Not exactly all that funny, and kind of old and creepy, he sure didn’t arouse as many laughs out of the audience as Snooki did.

And while it is slightly embarrassing to admit, there was only one student out of the six brought on stage could outsmart Snooki in the appropriately titled ‘Are You Smarter Than Snooki?’

As far as divas go, she sure wasn’t one. After the show was over, Snooki took as many fan pictures as she possibly could before having to make an exit.
