It was a good weekend in Bearcat land. The men’s soccer team looks like it has its goalie of the future, as Jason Stenta, who was not even supposed to see playing time this season, delivered another shutout. The women’s soccer team looks unbeatable on its home turf, as they embarrassed FDU at West Gym Field before falling to LIU in a close game on Long Island. The volleyball team ended Buffalo’s 10-game winning streak, and both the men’s tennis team and the golf team were impressive at tournaments this weekend. The two teams are peaking at the right time, as conference play is set to begin in the coming weeks. That, of course, is when the real season starts, and all our fall teams look ready for the challenge.

Pipe Dream’s Golden Pipe Award: Junior midfielder Kim Povill made Fairleigh Dickinson’s defense look stupid on Friday, beating them for two goals, the second of which was a 40-yard laser that sailed right over the goaltender’s head. The game was the team’s most complete of the season, and Povill was a huge reason for that.

Voice of the Fans: “Watching the way Texas destroyed tiny Rice over the weekend actually made me happy we don’t have a football team here at BU.” — Jon Albright, junior biology major.
