DALLAS (-5.5) over Cleveland: OK, so you’re reading picks from a guy who knows just about jack when it comes to professional football, but, hey, who says newbies can’t win? The Browns right now are like cornstarch mixed in water. They usually appear solid at first, but once you really press them you see just how much they fall apart. All you gotta do is look at their preseason games against the Jets and the Bears.
Cincinnati (-1) over Baltimore: Both teams have lost key players, but Cincinnati has shown that its players can actually make more than one touchdown before the regular season without the help of Antwan Odom and Chad Johnson. And now that they are coming back, see to it that they will make the Ravens look like canaries.
Indianapolis (-9.5) over Chicago: You could say that Chi-Town lacks a few “Bear necessities,” especially when it comes to the offense and missing their first-round draft pick Chris Williams. With Peyton Manning returning and the Colts being the Colts, Indianapolis should easily be able to penetrate through Chicago’s thick defense.
Jets (-3) over Miami: Chad Pennington will buckle under the pressure of his old team, and with him out of the picture, Miami has real no offense with the exception of Ricky Williams. Brett Favre allows the Jets’ offense to do a lot more, something that Pennington’s arm could never achieve.
