Smegma. Dick Cheese. What in God’s name am I talking about?

Anyone who is anyone (or who watches Carson Daly), knows that I’m referring to the master of comedic covers, Richard Cheese. Taking his name from the creamy substance formed on one’s dirty genitalia, Richard has been making swingin’ covers of overplayed pop songs for the better part of six years. After four albums, it was high time he released a “best of” compilation, dubbed The Sunny Side of the Moon.

This is a damn good compilation, but it only really compiles seven of his greatest hits, while boasting eleven new recordings. Sure, Richard Cheese is a niche musician, but who can deny the appeal of a big-band cover of Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back?” Not only does this disc have that, but covers of “Freak on a Leash,” “Rock the Casbah,” Gin and Juice,” and “Nookie.” There are many, many more, and all are infused with Richard’s unique style of humor and flair, plus a great big band sound. This is a great album for anyone who enjoys comedy, covers, or swing music (I’m sure there are still a few Brian Setzer fans out there). Just get it, you’ll have a good laugh, and that’s all Dick Cheese really wants.
