There’s little you can say about Beck that’s negative. He makes good music, he’s got charm, and he’s a real cutie pie (OMG!). His funk/folk/hip-hop amalgamation has been working for years. Legions of hipsters and hippies alike love the guy. Hell, one girl I boned and do not speak to anymore adored the guy. Guerolito is Beck’s first remix album and it contains remixes of all of Guero’s songs plus a bonus track. With help from members of the Beastie Boys, underground rapper El-P, and Diplo, Guerolito is a decent little album, but not essential to your collection and better off being pirated. Only Beck completists would want to pick this up. Remix albums usually signal that the artist has run out of ideas, and frankly, nothing on Guero really needed to be given new life in the form of a remix. Either way, play this at a party where everyone is getting stoned, and watch as their eyes roll back in their heads. Meh.
