Fans request “White Out” for game
The Bearcat Hooligans want fans to “white out” the field at the nationally televised men’s soccer game this Friday at 8 p.m. against Boston University. The game will take place in the Bearcats Sports Complex and will be broadcast on Binghamton University’s channel 56, the Fox Soccer Channel.
Journalist to lecture on fair media coverage
Khaled Abu Toameh, an independent Israeli-Arab journalist, will be speaking about the lack of free speech and press within the Palestinian territories on Monday, Oct. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Old University Union’s Mandela Room. The event will be sponsored by several Binghamton University clubs and organizations, including Hillel and the Judaic studies department.

Sisters walk for breast cancer
Jody Buyck, a breast cancer survivor from Binghamton, and her sister, Karen Luciani, are walking 60 miles as part of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure national benefit walk in Philadelphia this weekend. According to The Press & Sun-Bulletin, the two sisters will walk 20 miles a day to help raise public awareness about breast cancer and what is being done to cure it.
County resident is the first to receive vaccine
On Thursday, Rose Kesalusky became the first Broome County resident to receive the swine flu vaccine. According to The Press & Sun-Bulletin, she is a crew chief and driver for the Town of Maine Emergency Squad.

Busta Rhymes gets busted
Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr., a rap star who goes by the name Busta Rhymes, allegedly threw bottles and sucker-punched a man during a concert at SUNY Albany in 2003. According to the New York Post, on Wednesday, Rhymes was ordered to pay $75,000 to the man after a hearing in Brooklyn.
ASPCA honors piano-playing cat
Nora, the piano-playing cat, will be named Cat of the Year by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at their Oct. 29 New York City luncheon, according to the New York Post. Nora became popular after a series of videos was posted on YouTube of her musical talents.
