ALUMNUS AUTHOR TO SPEAK TODAY
Alumnus and author Joshua Palmatier will speak today in the University Union bookstore from noon to 3 p.m. The science fiction author will be signing copies of his latest book, “The Cracked Throne.” His first book, “The Skewed Throne,” is currently available in paperback.
CAMPUS RECREATION HOURS OFFERED SATURDAY
This Saturday, Dec. 2, Campus Recreational Services will hold Family Recreation from 9 to 11 a.m in the East Gym. All staff, faculty and students are invited to bring their families, as long as one group member is in possession of a valid Binghamton University identification card. Participants will have access to the pool and gymnasium. Activities will include basketball, badminton and volleyball.
NEW RESOLUTIONS PASSED BY THE SA
The Student Association has passed a resolution that will enable the Research and Planning Committee to conduct a survey on behalf of the SA to see how the campus community feels about a number of issues. The committee will be working with the Office of Campus Life’s survey company to develop a survey that will focus on SA services, construction, academic issues, administrative services, alcohol and Residential Life.
Another resolution passed will require the SA to ask the University for an increase in the the size of student e-mail in-boxes from 10MB to a minimum of 20MB.
FULL DAY OF JAZZ NEXT THURSDAY
Guest artist Bruce Johnstone will join the Harpur Jazz Ensemble, conducted by Michael Carbone, at 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, in the Osterhout Concert Theater. Tickets are $9 for the general public, $7 for faculty, staff and seniors and free for students. BINGHAMTONICS PERFORM TONIGHT
The Binghamtonics, Binghamton’s oldest co-ed a cappella group, will hold its fall semester show tonight at 8 p.m. in LH 1. Admission is $3 at the door.

The Binghamton University Symphony Orchestra, with guest conductor Carlos Mendez, will perform “Mozart and More!” Sunday, Dec. 3, at 3 p.m. in the Osterhout Concert Theater. Director Timothy Perry will conduct the “Hunt Scherzo” from “Symphony No. 4 Romantic” by Anton Bruckner and “Three Nocturnes” by Claude Debussy, and will then play basset clarinet while Mendez conducts the “Concerto in A Major” by Mozart.
