The Binghamton University men’s basketball team defeated Quinnipiac University, 74-58, Monday night at the TD Banknorth Sports Center.

The Bobcats (3-3) had previously defeated Hartford, 63-62, on Nov. 14, and Maine, 73-66, on Nov. 25. Both teams are America East rivals of the Bearcats (3-2). Senior forward Dwayne Jackson and junior transfer D.J. Rivera led all scorers with 17 points apiece. Junior guard Malik Alvin added 11 points and four assists for the Bearcats, while fellow junior transfer Emanuel “Tiki” Mayben pulled down a team-high six rebounds. Senior forward and team captain Reggie Fuller scored 12 points and blocked two Bobcat shots.

For Quinnipiac, junior guard James Feldiene and sophomore forward Justin Rutty each notched 15 points. Rutty also added six rebounds. Freshman guard and reigning Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week James Johnson dished out a team-high seven assists. Johnson received the honor after racking up 10 points, seven assists and five rebounds against Maine.

The Bearcats will travel next to New Brunswick on Saturday for a showdown against Rutgers University. The Scarlet Knights (4-2) come into the game having won their last game, 68-47, over St. Peters. Freshman guard Mike Rosario currently leads the team in scoring with 16.2 points per game. Fellow freshman Gregory Echenique has pulled down 10 rebounds per game, while junior center Hamady Ndiaye has notched 5.2 blocks per game.

Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at the Rutgers Athletics Center.
