.) Vermont (14-6, 5-2 AE): The Catamounts are currently on a five-game win streak, their latest victim being New Hampshire. Since Dec. 14 they have won 10 of 13 games and are atop the conference in offensive scoring, assists and 3-point shooting.
.) Binghamton (12-7, 5-2): The Bearcats are certainly not the team they were last season. Since Dec. 20 they have won 8 of 12 games with a newly assembled team. Junior D.J. Rivera has quickly emerged as the star player and leading scorer in the AE conference with 19.8 points a game. Senior Dwayne Jackson, the third leading scorer, was suspended indefinitely on Jan. 19, for violating team policy.
.) Boston University (10-9, 5-2): The Terriers hit a bit of a rough patch over the break, but they managed to still hold their conference record up. Since Dec. 13, Boston has won five of 11 games and are currently on a four-game streak.
.) Albany (12-8, 4-3): Since Dec. 13, the Great Danes have won 7 of 11 games. Sophomore Tim Ambrose had a career-high 26 points in leading Albany to a 80-71 victory over UMBC on Sunday.
.) Stony Brook (11-9, 3-4): The Seawolves have risen from the ashes of last season as formidable opponents in the conference. Lately SBU defeated both Hartford (72-63) and No. 4 Albany (58-45). The team also put up a fight against No. 3 Boston University in a quadruple-overtime heartbreaker which ended 99-97.
.) Maine (8-12, 3-4): Since Dec. 21, the Black Bears have gone 3-7 overall and losing all of their non-conference games. In third in the conference when it comes to assists and field goal percentage.
.) New Hampshire (7-11, 2-4): The Wildcats have had bad luck this season. Since Dec. 13, they have clinched only 4 of 11 games. The games that the Wildcats won however have been big ones including a victory over reigning AE champ UMBC and Dartmouth.
.) UMBC (8-11, 2-5): Once the top dog of the America East, the Retrievers now lie at the back of the pack having lost many of their key players after last season. At this time last year, the Retrievers were 13-7. Since Dec. 13, this season UMBC has won only 4 of 11 games. The team takes on the Bearcats tomorrow.
.) Hartford (6-15, 2-5): Last season Hartford was behind UMBC as well … just not way at the bottom. The Hawks have won only 30 percent of their games since Dec. 14, however, they still managed to beat No. 4 Albany, 64-54.
