The Student Association at Binghamton University has created new campaign posters to better advertise groups and activities available to students on campus.
The set of posters, designed by SA President Adam Amit and Media Director for the SA President Jeremy Gundel, will feature various pictures of student groups along with a new slogan to help advertise them.
The new campaign posters will break away from the original slogan, telling students to “Get Involved,” according to Amit, and will be replaced with the marketing campaign asking students, “What’s your passion?”
The posters will consist of three different sections.
“At the top of the posters we ask the important question ‘What’s your passion?’ In the middle of the posters we advertise four different student groups,” Amit said. “And on the bottom of the posters we let everyone know just how many student groups we have, asking them to discover more about them and engage themselves with these groups.”
Through a joint collaboration between Amit and Gundel, the posters was created with ideas passed back and forth until the final draft was made.
The final drafts of the posters will be placed around campus in residential halls, lecture halls and dining halls on Monday.
“We wanted to move away from the ‘Get Involved’ slogan,” Gundel said, “because it seemed a little clich√É.√©d. The ‘What’s your passion?’ slogan shows a student that if [they] are interested in something there is a student group that matches that passion.”
According to Amit, the new posters are “aiming to advertise the diversity of the various student groups on campus.”
The pictures for the posters are being obtained by the Executive Vice President for the SA Jared Kirschenbaum, according to Gundel.
An e-mail was sent out by Kirschenbaum to all SA-chartered student groups requesting photos for the posters.
“The pictures were put into the posters on a first-come, first-served basis,” Gundel said.
The pictures were e-mailed to Kirschenbaum, who gave them to Gundel and Amit for the posters, according to Gundel.
The SA is trying to change the focus and direction of the organizaion, according to Amit, as before it had been focused on the government aspects and will now be redirected to the student groups.
According to Amit, there are over 180 student groups and activities on campus, and those organizations make up the largest representation in the SA.
“We want to encourage students to discover these groups and engage in these activities,” Amit said.
