For students looking for more energy or more variety in their fall concert: Can you dig it? EDM pair Flosstradamus is booked to open the show, set for Sept. 26 in the Binghamton University Events Center.

Flosstradamus is the stage name of Chicago-based DJs Josh Young and Curt Cameruci. The duo shares its Mad Decent record label with popular EDM artists like Diplo (half of Major Lazer) and Baauer (remember “Harlem Shake?”). They have performed such shows as Ultra Music Festival, Pitchfork Music Festival, Coachella and Lollapalooza.

Now they’re coming to turn up BU’s fall semester show, bringing the noise, the sick beats and some variety to the already exciting concert.

“We booked Flosstradamus in hopes of reaching out to a broader audience,” said Mariana Moriello, vice president of programming for the Student Association. “Between Wild Nothing at University Fest and J. Cole and Flosstradamus later in the fall, I think we are off to a very good start!”

Flosstradamus will perform as the show’s second opener for headliner J. Cole, the first being newcomer rap artist Bas. Bas is another lyrically agile rapper signed to Dreamville Records.

Variety is most important to the SA, and although the Programming Board has not booked a rock group yet this year, Moriello said they’re definitely looking to do so.

“To book a good band is the most costly performance we can have,” Moriello said. “We hope this show will exceed any expectations students had for SAPB.”

A hint-dropping Facebook post by the SAPB earlier this week displayed Flosstradamus’s signature “warning sign” logo along with a hashtagged reference to the group’s “plurnt” movement, combining the “peace, love, unity and respect” tagline familiar to rave-goers with “turnt up.”

So with move-in day right around the corner and ticket sales beginning Aug. 24, we ask BU students … are you ready to get #plurnt?
