The Latin American Student Union wants to reach out to all those who are affected by this tumultuous election cycle and extend solidarity and hope.
The election results tonight are not something many of us believed was possible. We have been following this election for a while and have had to endure all the hate, xenophobia, and racist comments that have targeted the legitimacy of our lives and the presence of our community in this country.
The truth is that many of us are afraid of what this means and are confused as to how to continue in the midst of all this. But we refuse to let this define us. It’s easy to give up hope in the face of all of this negativity but we must not allow this to paralyze us or deter us from action.
Our strength does not only reside in ourselves but our agency as a community. We are dreamers, we are family, and most of all we are fighters. This is the time we need each other the most. Please do your best to take care of yourselves, those around you, and the people you care about. The Latin American Student Union stands with you.
