Now, I’m not normally one to get into super fanboy mode over a band, but there has been one particular music group on the scene lately that I can’t help but love. They’re called Say Anything, and on February 28th, they will be re-releasing their debut album “Is a Real Boy.”

This album, orginally released in the summer of 2004, is incredible. Not enough can be said about its uniqueness and its brutal honesty. It’s a punk rock opera, if you want a fitting description. Every song sparkles with intense rock energy, and lead singer Max Bemis lends his great voice and witty/insightful/angry lyrics to every song.

Say Anything has evolved past all those emo-retard bands that do nothing but whine. Every single track will surprise you many different times. Once you think you know where a song is going, it switches direction and rocks out even harder. Seriously, there is nothing cheesy on this album. This is pure unadulterated emotion, and not the lame kind of emotion. It’s the “fuck you for being such an asshole” kind of emotion that we can all relate to. At points, you’d swear the lead singer is insane, and he may very well be. He did, in fact, spend some time in a mental institution, and that just makes this shit cooler.

The re-release comes with a bonus disc that has some new tracks, most of which are very good. “Wow, I Can Be Sexual Too” is a damn good song about phone sex.

Pre-order this album or get it as soon as possible, if you don’t already have the original. You will love it.
