First Leadership Council Held
A Leadership Council was held for the first time on Wednesday, Feb. 15, allowing student groups to come together to work on joint programs. Approximately 100 people showed up, representing around 60 student groups. Two more meetings are expected to be held throughout the semester.
University Symphony Orchestra
The winners of Binghamton University’s Tenth Biennial Concerto and Aria Competition, with the University Symphony Orchestra under Professor Timothy Perry, will perform in the Anderson Center’s Osterhout Theater on Feb. 25 at 8 p.m. Performers will include pianist Sut Han Cho, baritone Soon Young Park and violinists Akira Maezawa and Alisa Selman.
An Afternoon with Wayne A. Rozen
Wayne A. Rozen, author of “America on the Ropes,” will speak at Temple Israel on Sunday, March 19 at 1:30 p.m. In “America on the Ropes,” a pictoral history of the fight between boxing champions Jack Johnson and James J. Jeffries, Rozen writes of racial tensions in the early 1900s, drawing parallels with American sports.
Free Ice-skating
Broome County Executive Barbara Fiala will host another free skating day on Feb. 22 at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena, “since children will be out of school next week and Grippen Ice Rink is still out of commission,” said Fiala. Free skating will be available from 1-4 p.m. at the arena. However, skate rentals will not be available.
