Graig Klein

*Junior political science major

*Eperience: last year’s president of Marcy Hall; Off-Campus Community SA rep; Rules Committee; E-Board for Club Lacrosse; BG’s Pizzeria manager

*Platform: If elected, Klein wants to bring back the Town Hall meetings, “fight against the administration in using Alcohol.Edu as a required thing for all incoming freshman and using incomplete forms for disciplinary measures,” use revenue from advertising on OCCT Blue Buses to cover the cost of maintaining them, and expand the number of businesses that accept BUC$ off-campus. He also has “little house keeping” plans, such as having all the clocks on campus say the same time, obtaining earlier and better practice times for club sports and increasing the number of ATMs on-campus.

Interests: Sports, government and foreign affairs, music, going out downtown and to parties, and watching “Entourage.”

Chris McDonnell

*Junior economics and politics, philosophy and law major

*Experience: currently the Newing College president; served earlier this year as the Endicott Hall president

*Platform: If elected, McDonnell would like to address some of the issues of “racism” which he feels are prevalent on campus, referring specifically to what he believed to be the racially motivated dismissal of professors Tiffany Patterson and Adalberto Lopez in the past two years. He would also like to work on what he referred to as the “OCCT issue,” saying that “their scheduling issue right now is faulty to an extent, given the communities that tend to utilize it the most.”

*Interests: deep sea fishing, paintballing and construction

Alex Rosenthal

*Junior history and philosophy double major

*Experience: three years of student government experience; Chair of the Research and Planning Committee; Harpur College Council and Board of Directions for OCCT.

*Platform: If elected, Rosenthal would like to work toward getting additional SA revenues with ads on the Blue Buses, building a Web site for students to trade used books so they can save money, protecting the local environment and saving student money by using refillable mugs at venues on- and off-campus, “lobbying the state for smaller and less frequent tuition increases,” and creating a more transparent and effective government. He would also like to “increase the quality of information that works its way down to the communities [from student government].”

*Interests: “I enjoy working for the students and the public interest as well as getting away and hanging out with my friends and playing poker.”

Michael Schiffman

*Junior finance major

*Experience: former academic vice president of Broome Hall; former president of Broome Hall; former ResCon for Broome Hall; president of Newing Community; SA Rep for Off Campus College.

*Platform: If elected, Schiffman is interested in “taking an active role” in speaking for the students and getting student feedback, providing students with a place where they can ask for help, using his contacts in the administration to solve problems, and improving communication and eliminating the “disconnect” between the Student Association and communities by visiting each community at least twice a semester. He also plans on continuing in the current direction of the SA and the plan to bring BUC$ off-campus.

*Interests: “I like partying, skiing, going to concerts, going online and most recently, following the stock market.”

Chris Strub

*Junior economics major

*Experience: former Pipe Dream sports editor; former Academic Vice President of Mohawk Hall; Rules Committee; SA Rep for Mohawk Hall

*Platform: If elected, Strub would work on improving venues in the New University Union’s Food Court, putting an ATM in every dining hall, bringing back the town hall meetings, “loosening unconstitutional alcohol regulations on campus,” getting beer sold in the Events Center at games, expanding BUC$ off-campus, improving Late Nite Binghamton, increasing publicity for the Student Association Web site, getting a later drop deadline, improving relations between students and University president Lois DeFleur, changing the Student Assembly to “de-nerdify meetings,” and bringing communities and the SA closer.

*Interests: “I’m into newspaper writing, sports — especially Binghamton sports — sleeping, video games and working.”
