Here are three things to watch for in today’s women’s soccer match:
1. Goals Goals Goals — The Fairleigh Dickinson Knights have allowed a whopping 18 goals in five games this season. That averages out to over three per game. The Bearcats are fresh off a short-handed four-goal performance against Wagner, and that means we could have fireworks. With key scorers returning to BU’s lineup, combined with the Knights’ Swiss cheese style D, look for some high scoring action.
2. Kim Povill and Danielle White — Two of the team’s most prolific scorers missed the last game, White with an injury and Povill because of a red card. While White is no guarantee to play, the smooth-scoring Povill will be in the lineup and will certainly be looking to make up for lost time against Fairleigh Dickinson.
3. The new back line — Much was made of the loss of heralded senior defenders Meghan Taylor and Vicky Vernicek, but the Bearcats have seamlessly worked in a new back line, one that allowed just two shots overall in Sunday’s match. Katie Kerrigan, Nicole Montoya, Erica Eddy and Katie Eaton have been aggressive ball handlers and an outstanding last line of defense for the goalies. Montoya, playing in just her first season, has looked especially good, and at this point looks like the crown jewel of this year’s recruiting class.
