Senior tennis player Zeynep Altinay broke the school record for career wins at this weekend’s Bloomsburg women’s tennis duals.
Team scores were not kept; however, wins counted towards individual career records.
Altinay won 6-2, 6-2 over Jaclyn Williams of Villanova at No. 2 singles on Sunday. The win was Altinay’s 70th of her career, breaking the previous record of 69 held by Lisa Denerstein (1988-92).
Senior Lya Kushnirovich won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, giving her 68 career wins, keeping the old record, as well as Altinay’s, firmly within her sights. Kushnirovich went 3-0 in singles over the weekend, and won both her doubles matches.
For the two-day event, Binghamton tennis players won 26 of 33 total matches.
Binghamton will host its own fall invitational from Sept. 30 to Oct. 1 on the West Gym Courts.
