They aren’t giving up yet.

The Binghamton Senators improved to 11th place in the Eastern Conference this week after logging two comeback victories. Right winger Brandon Bochenski, fresh from a recall by the Ottowa Senators, proved to be the key in both wins.

Bochenski contributed to all four Binghamton goals in the Senators’ 4-3 win against the Portland Pirates Wednesday. He scored the game-winning goal 2:25 into overtime play, had a power-play goal in the third period and was credited with two assists. Jeff Heerema and Danny Bois were on the receiving end of Bochenski’s assists.

Bochenski emerged as the star again Saturday in the B-Sens’ 5-4 win against the Toronto Marlies. The Senators rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the second period to send the game into overtime. Bochenski propelled the team to victory with a power-play goal in the second period and three assists, but it was Heerema who scored the game-winner this time, with 1:04 remaining on the clock. Steven Martins and captain Denis Hamel each scored one goal.

The B-Sens significantly improved their power plays — and restrained themselves on the ice — converting one out of four power-play chances against Toronto, and two out of 11 during the game against Portland.

Syracuse provided the only setback for Binghamton this week, as goalkeeper Mike Ayers recorded a shutout in the Senators’ 2-0 loss Friday.

The Senators travel to Rochester this Friday for a contest against the eighth place Americans, and will return home Saturday to host the 10th place Philadelphia Phantoms. Binghamton will also play Syracuse again tomorrow at the Utica Memorial Auditorium at 7:05 p.m.
