In this edition, we have a question from Alex Racketa, a junior economics major and Bearcats fanatic.

If you weren’t a college basketball coach, what would you be doing for a living?

I’d be an academic advisor. I enjoy very much working with the student-athletes, and that’s what I like to do.

Do you have any superstitions? What is your favorite pre-game meal?

The guys will tell you it’s probably chicken parm and pasta on the road. I like to take a nap on game day after shootaround.

And here’s the question from Alex: Coach, what should we expect from Jaan Montgomery this season?

Jaan is improving and working very, very hard in this pre-season period. He’s developing a low-post game, and he’s moving his body quicker, and we hope that he’s going to be a presence on the defensive end and on the low blocks … Jaan is going to have more significant playing time early. The big issue now is making sure that Jaan can rebound the ball after he defends the shot, because I think he’s going to end up being a very good defender; but now, the question for Jaan is, can he be quick enough to go get [the rebound] after he defends the shot … that’s really the big challenge for us in practice right now.
