The first home match since September could not have come at a better time for the red hot Binghamton women’s tennis team. The Bearcats came in with a perfect record in dual matches, 3-0. Fresh off victories over Army and Seton Hall last weekend, the team looks to continue its winning ways at the expense of the Colgate Raiders.
The 3-0 record in dual matches marks the team’s best start since it made the jump to Division I six years ago.
Binghamton last faced Colgate in a dual meet nearly two years ago, with the Bearcats winning the match because of a Raider forfeit, so it remains to be seen how the two teams will fare. Colgate comes in with a perfect dual match record as well; they posted two 5-2 victories over Siena and Marist to start off the winter season, so the Bearcats will not underestimate the Raiders’ capabilities.
Senior Zeynep Altinay looks to continue to add to her impressive win total in singles matches, which stands at a record 77 coming into this weekend. Her remarkable run has partially shadowed the career of senior teammate Lya Kushnirovich, who has 73 singles victories of her own. The two have been extremely impressive for Binghamton this season and look to continue their excellence this weekend.
The match is set to start at 6 p.m. tomorrow at the Events Center.
