SUNDAY, NOV. 27, 4:22 p.m. — Officers were patrolling Newing College’s Broome Hall when they noticed a marijuana odor emanating from a particular room, said Investigator Patrick Reilly of Binghamton University’s New York State University Police. The room’s occupant, a male student, allowed them inside and showed the officers a jar containing a small amount of marijuana that he produced from the drawer beneath his bed. He claimed he had no other illegal substances or drug paraphernalia, but refused to open his drawer again. When officers threatened to come back with a drug-sniffing dog, the suspect relented and opened the drawer, revealing a digital scale, several pills believed to be Adderall and a small baggy containing a brown powdery substance which later tested positive for methamphetamine. The officers arrested the suspect and issued him an appearance ticket for Town of Vestal Court.
MONDAY, NOV. 28, 1:19 p.m. — Officers on patrol in Lot S observed two male students standing behind the Institute for Child Development on campus, Reilly said. The officers approached the students and asked for identification. One of the suspects, an 18-year-old male, had a Florida ID with a false date of birth. The officers were in the process of running a background search for the suspect when he ran away, heading for Murray Hill Road. The officers pursued the suspect and observed him throw his backpack under a construction trailer while he ran. They apprehended the suspect near the road, and then they retrieved and searched his bag. It contained several items of paraphernalia, marijuana, a pair of metal knuckles and a jar with an amber residue that the suspect explained was hashish. Further investigation led officers back to the suspect’s room, where more hashish was found. The suspect had been producing hashish using a hot plate and marijuana and selling it off campus. He was arrested on numerous charges and issued an appearance ticket for Town of Vestal Court.
MONDAY, NOV. 28, 3:15 p.m. — A woman sitting in her car in Lot M observed an unknown suspect opening various car doors and looking inside, Reilly said. She notified officers, who arrived on the scene to investigate, but by the time they arrived the suspect had already made his way up the Hillside path and could not be found. Police have no suspects.
