It was a familiar sight this weekend for Bearcats track fans. Binghamton University graduate student Rory Quiller again dominated the competition with a top finish in the men’s pole vault at the Syracuse Invitational on Saturday.
He cleared 5.30 meters to win the event. Senior teammate Kris Yelverton finished second behind Quiller at 4.70 meters.
Also taking top finishes on the men’s side were junior Joanel Lopez, in shot put, and freshman Justin Halleck, in weight throw. Freshman Cazal Arnett finished second in the 500-meter dash and classmate Christian Smith had a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash.
On the women’s side, Bearcats senior Keisha Short finished first in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:18.53. The BU women’s 1,600-meter relay won the event with a time of 4:04.75. Sophomore Caitlin Wright finished second in the 400 meter-dash.
Binghamton is scheduled to participate in two meets this weekend. Some members of the team will head to the Collegiate Invitational at the New York City Armory and the rest of the team will compete in the Cornell Open.
