FRIDAY, Nov. 7 — A 25-year-old female teaching assistant reported being harassed by a former girlfriend, according to Investigator Dennis P. Bush of Binghamton’s New York State University Police. The TA told officers that she kept receiving non-threatening phone calls and e-mails, and that one time the ex-girlfriend had shown up at a class. The officers spoke with the 35-year-old ex-girlfriend, who claimed she was the victim of the harassment. The officers told both women to stay away from each other.
FRIDAY, Nov. 7, 9:22 p.m. — While on patrol in the Nature Preserve, officers heard laughing coming from one end of the footbridge. Officers found two 20-year-old male students, a 20-year-old female student and a 21-year-old male student standing in a circle. While interviewing the students, one of the officers noticed two baggies containing marijuana residue on the ground, Bush said.
The students responded negatively when asked if any of them had been smoking. They consented to searches and officers found two glass pipes containing resin and a small tin can containing wrapping papers in the pockets of the female student. One of the male student was also found with a fake ID. The female student was issued an appearance ticket to Vestal Town Court for Nov. 20 at 5:30 p.m. The rest of the students were referred to Judicial Affairs.
SUNDAY, Nov. 9, 12:04 a.m. — Officers on patrol saw something suspicious being taken out of the trunk of a car, according to Bush. They questioned the 20-year-old operator of the vehicle, who said it was a three-foot, side-handled sword. The officers also found two 12-inch saber blades and a 10-inch bowie knife in the trunk. The officers secured the weapons and told the man that it was not legal in New York state to have weapons while on campus. He was told he could pick them up when leaving campus.
